be sure it's ionic and has a diffuser with "fingers" on it to add more volume

Hello :)
I recommend http://www.hairdryerdirectory.com it tells you where you can get them too. Also try your local beauty salon they will recommend something perfect for your hair and can actually sell you one in your price range.

A CHI is the best. It doesn't "dry" the hair out while you "dry" it. It will dry your hair in almost half the time a normal dryer will. They are great. They are a bit more than the 30.00 you want to spend. But in the long run you will spend that 30.00 many times before you will have to look at replacing your CHI dryer. I think that they have a life time warranty from the company. Good Luck

What is the best affordable hair dryer out on the market today?
Aug 23, 2006 by Martha | Posted in Hair
My Conair 1875 Ion Shine hair dryer just died and it's less than a year old. I have average straight hair that I want to look thicker by blowing drying it upside down and I have layers up front that I flip under. Basically I want an affordable, good dryer that will last for years. I want one that has a concentrator and with Ions. One that gives hair body. Do you have any recommondations?
I went to hair school:
any hair dryer that is ionic is just fine, if you dont want to spend alot of money... but for the thickness i say get some bed head "Big Sexy" volume shampoo or Redken has a good kind too... but when your hair is still wet put a "little" mouse at the roots and when your blow drying... but dont just turn your head upside down until your hair is already 90% dry or you will get a line across the back of your hair like when you have a pony tail in all day... you should go buy a large round brush with natural bristles with the holes in it and dry your hair with that it raises the root as you dry giving it more volume with or without the mouse it takes a little more time but it makes it look much better...
just blow dry on medium heat head right side up using your fingers as a brush to get some of the moisture out, then when its just damp start using the round brush, the natural bristles add more shine... and hair place when the blow dry your hair will do it so you can ask them a good technique

Can you use a hair dryer if you are using a generator?
Jan 21, 2007 by Deerrunner | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Can someone please explain in detail how to use generators. Can i use a hair dryer? How many watts can the dryer be? What type of generator do I need? I want to be able to at least have a light on,have my refrigerator running, have some hot water and a little heater. I don't want to be running around with wet hair in the cold either. Only serious answers please. I have no idea what to do. Please give me any useful tips to have. Thanks in advance.
What type of generator is a good one to get? Brand? How much does it cost? I already know they are expensive.
Can I turn off some other stuff if I need to use the watts for somehitng else? Hope that makes sense.
I want to get a generator for when the power is lost. I live in MO. and we recently had allot of power outage. I know poeple that haven't had power for about 9 days.
Read through my generator page and you'll likely find most of your answers.
http://members.rennlist.org/warren/generator.html
Lights do not require a great amount of power. The refrigerator isn't often a major problem either. A small heater is likely upwards of 1500 watts, as would be your hair dryer. Hot water power requirements would depend on how the water is heated. Electric would require about 3000 watts minimum. Many variables in there...
I'd suggest you get at least a 5kW generator, and connect via a proper transfer panel. This will make connection during an outage very easy and safe. Stay away from the Chinese built generators. You may find the price attractive, but will be displeased with quality and reliability. If you're going to have something for emergency use it should be dependable.

What is the best hair dryer and straightner?
Jan 04, 2009 by MNichole47 | Posted in Hair
I had a really cheap conair hair dryer and it broke. What is, in your opinion, the best brand for that and straightners?
I'm not really an expert on the best hair dryers, but I do own a revlon and it's a decent hair dryer. Not the best, but it does it's job and I've had it for quite a while. The best brand of hair straighteners is sedu for sure. Sedu is rated number one on folica.com and is the best. I've had it for over a year and a half and it still works great.

Can a hair dryer electrocute you if the cord touches a few drops of water?
Dec 17, 2007 by Answerer | Posted in Chemistry
I know that if a hair dryer is submerged in water, it will electrocute you, but if just the cord part gets a little wet, is there any risk?
When the cord itself becomes wet, it will not electrocute you.
With the risks:
1. if the cord has some openings, like rat bites, it sparks when it touches the water. worse if the two lines of wires have openings that get wet, your electricl connection will be shorted.
2. if that wre opening goes to water, and you are within the water's reach (continuous), that's when you get electrocuted.

Laukka provided demonstrations on the auditorium the theatre, showing how sparks fly when the right caution isn't familiar. It got the students' r, especially when they were told that tension travels 186,000 miles per subordinate.
The lecture and protest are geared to the temptations that youths might mush — stealing red flags that mean underground wires, flying kites adjacent to overhead wires, sitting on transformers, climbing trees wellnigh power poles, keeping electrical gear near sinks.
"A homely little hairdryer causes a lot of bill," Laukka said, reminding the students that every convenience life they turn on a detrain switch their mitt is just one-direction inch from rickety electricity.

I’ve been blow drying my own hair since about 12-14 years old. My mama is a hairdresser so my first hair dryer was one of her cast offs. I had that thing until it literally was blowing smoke and shorted out. Since then I’ve changed a few of them.
But how can you cognizant of it’s time to get a new one?

It takes you twice as long to dry your hair then it familiar to.
Sign 3…
You can smell smoke.

Sign 5…
If your hair dryer doesn’t have the words ceramic or ion, it’s obviously time for an upgrade.
